I Gotta Feeling Wake the Giant 2025 Will Be Epic

This September’s Festival Lineup Announced

By Sidney Ulakovic

The 2025 Wake the Giant festival lineup is here, and festival organizers have got a feeling that festival goers will have the time of their life. This September 6th at the waterfront, international superstars the Black Eyed Peas will headline this year’s festival.

“It’s a huge accomplishment to bring in an Indigenous headliner,” says Sean Spenrath, Student Success Coordinator at Dennis Franklin Cromarty High School. “ Taboo from the Black Eyed Peas, who has Shoshone heritage, is known for his powerful advocacy for Indigenous rights. “We’ve always said from the start that representation matters. And for our [students] to see Taboo at the top of the lineup performing, I think that’s massive.”

Aside from being a music festival, Wake the Giant is a cultural awareness  project aimed at creating a more welcoming and inclusive environment for Indigenous people, youth, and their communities in the city of Thunder Bay. “It’s about providing amazing opportunities for our Indigenous students,” says Greg Chomut, co-founder and organizer of Wake the Giant. “It’s recognizing the amazing sacrifice that a lot of our students are making to come to school.”

Also slated to perform this year are Prozzäk, Neon Dreams, Crystal Shawanda, The Poets, Wyatt C.Louis, G DUBZ, and Walking Bear. “The 2025 lineup is stacked,” Chomut says in a press release. “We have Prozzäk bringing some 90’s nostalgia, Neon Dreams back for another round after blowing minds at the festival in 2023, powerhouse, blues-country artist Crystal Shawanda, The Poets—because we all need more Hip in our lives, Plains Cree singer-songwriter Wyatt C. Louis, representing Fort William First Nation, DJ, G DUBZ, and Walking Bear Drum Group.”

Tickets for the 2025 Wake the Giant Music Festival went on sale today at noon at wakethegiant.ca. Tier 1 tickets are available for $115 and limited VIP tickets for $170. Kids 12 and under are free but still need a ticket to attend via the ticket site.
