“It’s just been such a wild ride,” says Thunder Bay-born musical artist Megan Nadin, who is no stranger to boldly venturing into the unfamiliar.

It would take her being in another continent teaching children in a small village outside Siem Reap, Cambodia before she gathered the courage to sing for an audience of her students, which ultimately led her to perform an original song at a showcase in Toronto that caught the attention of Nashville-based talent scouts, prompting her to relocate to Music City and advance her career. It was a fortuitous encounter that would lead her to open for country legends Pam Tillis and Lorrie Morgan on their Grits and Glamour tour this Sunday April 13 at the Thunder Bay Community Auditorium, which will be Nadin’s largest show to date.

“I got the call two weeks before that I would even have the opportunity,” Nadin says. Not long ago, Nadin met Pam Tillis in the green room at an event in Nashville. Unbeknownst to Nadin, Tillis is a friend of her mentor, who would approach her with the performance opportunity in Thunder Bay. Nadin is the only opening act to accompany Tillis and Morgan on the Grits and Glamour Tour, and, as showtime approaches, Nadin says that she’s not nervous but looks forward to sharing the moment with her hometown alongside two women who’ve had such successful careers in the industry as her own is blossoming. “I just feel so grounded.”

Nadin’s latest single “In Another Life” released in March, and she says that she has hours of unheard material that she eagerly awaits to unveil. She recently completed a songwriting and composition program at Dark Horse Music Institute, and says the experience has allowed her to feel fully in control of her artistic direction.

“I’m really excited about my music artistry taking these heights,” she says. As the incredible opportunity approaches, Nadin is excited to share this milestone career moment with family and friends in her hometown. “I really want people to be inspired to know that you just have to step through the door,” she says. “You don’t even have to know how.”
