Located 54 kilometers east of Thunder Bay, the Shaganash Lighthouse has been guiding mariners into the North Channel since 1910. In 1922, the original lighthouse was replaced with a 36-foot (8.1-meter) light tower.
To celebrate its designation as a historic lighthouse under the Heritage Lighthouse Protection Act, Paul Morralee, Managing Director of Canadian Lighthouses of Lake Superior, will share the history and significance of this iconic lighthouse at the Speaker’s Series on March 15 at the Thunder Bay Museum 2pm, refreshments available.
