Polaris Founder and Executive Director Steve Jordan said the “jury is showing an ever-growing passion and dedication to reviewing, discussing and advocating their selections. This has resulted in a Short List of records that are musically focused, intense and in some cases highly personal.”
Seems this jury has its work cut out for it. The Polaris gala will be held in Toronto on September 24, where the 11-member grand jury will be sequestered Papal conclave-style until they agree on the best Canadian album of 2012. The Polaris Prize is all about artistic merit—not clever marketing, commercial success, or good looks.
