Wiggins Productions will be hosting Roktober Weekend, October 3 and 4 at the Foundry (242 Red River Road). The night will showcase some of the city’s top acts including The Greenbank Trio, Nick Sherman, Elle Kay, The Goods, Whoisjamesblack and Tiina Flank.
After a few years of touring nationally, playing everywhere from cramped kitchens to sold out auditoriums, Thunder Bay Ontario’s Greenbank Trio are getting a taste for life on the road… and they want more. Quickly becoming known for their three-part harmony vocals and upbeat retro 60’s sound, these northern troubadours deliver a musical experience not to be missed.
Hailing from Northwestern Ontario, Nick spent his childhood traveling between his birthplace of Sioux Lookout and the remote, First Nation community of Weagamow Lake and North Caribou Lake trap line. After spending 14 years listening to his family play their favourite songs, Nick bought his first guitar and taught himself how to play—to this day he has never taken formal lessons in guitar or singing.
Elle Kay is an emerging singer-songwriter who writes and performs songs about the people and places that inspire her. With piano and voice as her primary instruments, Elle draws from a number of genres including jazz, rockabilly, folk, and blues to create original material. She quickly became involved in the Thunder Bay music scene as a backup singer and studio musician playing piano and trumpet. She has been recognized as a performer with a number of acts throughout the city.
Doors at 10pm, show at 11pm nightly. Cover is $5. Age of majority required.
