Energized by the release of their fourth recording, Hoots Deuce, Sudbury’s Pistol George Warren will bring their spirited live show to Thunder Bay on July 31. They’ll warm up with a show at Summer in the Parks and then bring the party up the hill to Black Pirates Pub.
The Hoots Deuce EP takes the band’s Motown-meets-Nashville sound to a new, fuller, grittier level. Falling somewhere in between Sly and The Family Stone and The Rolling Stones on your summer playlist, EP single “High School Blues” pits twangy rhythm guitars against a set of R&B soul sisters.
Fiercely beloved by their hometown, the members of Pistol George Warren have been involved in the Sudbury arts scene for the better part of their lives (except for Matt Wiewel, who’s been imported from the big city of Winnipeg). And they’ve been involved in each other’s lives for just as long, socializing together almost more than they practice. Sharing a common love of country, soul, and vintage rock they’ve bonded and blended on stage over the years, becoming a close-knit but large group of laughin’, groovin’, and stompin’ comrades.
