CONGRATULATIONS
I saw your April 2011 edition today and am so impressed. I like the article on “A POP CAN’S Journey”. Rebekah Skochinski did an Excellent A+ write up on Pop Cans. It’s an especially outstanding article as she did include the hard working group I’ve seen for years now “POP CAN’S for CHARITY”. These retired guys have worked through thick and thin faithfully collecting the cans from their bins all over Thunder Bay and I’ve seen so many marvelous groups they have given their money they raise to either by donation or Food.
One thing Rebekah missed was the things I see at the Bin accross the street from my residence. The theft is outrageous from it and I chase kids, and men away from it and even phoned the police who responded. There is some guy on a bike (winter and summer) with a small trailer he pulls behind him that steals the cans religiously – come on folks report this already. Then another pathetic practice of people is to throw their GARBAGE and doggie poop bags in the bin almost daily. What is it with these people? I’d like to see Walley do a feature on this group and just help them out with a good article about their work. Rain, shine, SNOW or Freeze they are out their weekly collecting the cans. God Bless them and you folks @ Walley and Rebekah for doing this much. Recool gets BIG dollars from our taxes and keeps the pop can money they make for themselves, these fellows give it all back to the community. see for yourself http://www.popcans.org Help them out. Thanks Walley and Rebekah. I found my copy I got of your paper at ‘Java Hut’. Pete
